FANTASY SUPER RUGBY 2019 – ROUND 13 IN REVIEW
After a week off the Fantasy Round Review is back for a quick review of Fantasy Super Rugby 2019 round 13.
PLAYERS IN FOCUS
Round 13's Fantasy Man of the Round was George Bridge (92 points) who had his first proper screamer for the season as the Crusaders absolutely ran circles around the Bulls up in the highveld. Now it's not exactly like he was slacking off, his average points per game last week were sitting on 43.5 but with this week's score they have jumped up to 50.4 (he's only played 7 games) for the season. Just like most games so far, the tries went the way of 2019 fantasy prodigy Sevu Reece (68 points) who bagged himself 3 tries and left Bridge try less in this one. Bridge did however see alot of ball though, instead scoring his fantasy points from 17 carries for 113 run metres, 7 LINE BREAKS (35 points - Holy Moly!), 7 tackle busts (21 points), a try assist and he won a turnover. It is very likely that we will be finding Bridge a fantasy top scorer and player in focus again in the last 5 weeks of the regular season.
Whilst there have been glimpses of Aphiwe Dyanti's (79 points) form that saw him take away world rugby's breakthrough player of the year award in 2018, much like the Lion's success in Super Rugby 2019, they have been few and far between. This week the crowd favourite Dyanti was hungry for the ball and went looking for work and that made a helluva difference. Speaking of work, this week he made 15 carries for 103 run metres, 2 line breaks, 5 tackle busts, 2 offloads, 5 tackles, scored a center's try under the sticks and also won a turnover for his team. After a slow start to the year his season average is sitting on 27.3 points per game but a better indicator of his recent form is his last 3 round average (41) and last 5 round average (40.6). It largely depends on how the Lions as a team go from here but with a lot of players back in recent weeks and mainly derbies to see out the season hopefully its onwards and upwards from here!
Brad Weber (75 points) has got to be at least the 3rd best half back in New Zealand right now and you'd think is playing himself into the All Blacks Squad for the rugby world cup. By the numbers he is the 3rd best fantasy scrum half in Super Rugby 2019 behind TJ Perenara on 42.8 and Will Genia on 40.8 with all three of them having played 10 games. Weber's average points per game is sitting at 40.4, his 3 round average at 61 and 5 round average at 51.4. He has done am absolutely massive job stepping up in terms of both leadership and on field performance in a Chiefs side that has been utterly depleted in both. This week his hard work backing up in support saw him nab himself two tries, he made 2 line breaks, a tackle bust and he made 12 tackles.
