The OG League Super Rugby Pacific 26, Round 9
The Beta-Test Backfire: Trade Masterstrokes and Selection Shambles
Super Rugby Pacific Round 9 was a weekend where the superstars returned from “Bye-mageddon,” but the headlines were stolen by the wheeling and dealing in the front offices. From the Chiefs’ power game to the Reds’ resurgence, the real-world results shook up the OG League table in ways no one saw coming.
In the OG League, we saw a weekend defined by massive point totals and the immediate impact of mid-week trades. Some managers look like geniuses, while others are left staring at their benches in despair.

Trades
The trade session for Round 8 was arguably the most active of the season:
The Hooker Shuffle: Cargie traded away Josh Nasser for Tyrone Thompson (88), a massive upgrade that fueled his round-high score.
The "Miracle" Deal: In a Friday afternoon special, Sean (Lam & Order) sent Pete Samu to Cargie in exchange for Miracle Faiilagi (76). Faiilagi's monster game helped Cargie clear the 700-mark, but Sean won't be complaining after his win.
Blues Reinforcements: Nelson Dale was busy, snagging Xavi Taele (55) and Zarn Sullivan (51) to bolster his backline.

Round 9 Fixtures:
Roigardians of the Galaxy vs. Lam & Order
Result: 506 - 561 The “Nabung Curse” continues! For the second week in a row, the defending champ has been taken down. Sean’s Lam & Order utilized a balanced attack led by Ethan de Groot (61) and Ben Donaldson (54). Nabung’s Roigardians were powered by an 88 from Jeremy Williams, but the decision to play with 14 men proved costly.
The Toole Shed vs. Situti Down
Result: 525 - 720 TOTAL CARNAGE. Cargie (Situti Down) put up the score of the season, a monstrous 720. It was a “Chiefs & Canes” clinic: Tyrone Thompson (88), Xavier Numia (74), and trade-in Miracle Faiilagi (76) were untouchable. Wylie (The Toole Shed) actually put up a very respectable 525, led by Liam Coombes-Fabling (88), but he was simply standing in the way of a freight train this week.
SAMISONIC THE HEDGEHOG vs. Leicester We Forget
Result: 537 - 490 Nelson’s SAMISONIC keeps the pressure on the top two after making another 6 trades to sneak a second unlikely win in a row, this time against his arch nemesis (a.k.a. his brother). Filipo Daugunu (80) and Anton Segner (68) provided the fireworks, while trade-ins Xavi Taele (55) and Zarn Sullivan (51) paid immediate dividends. Harry (Leicester We Forget) struggled with a nightmare -14 from Etonia Waqa, which completely offset the good work of Augustine Pulu (52).
Note: Nelson left 83 points from Virimi Vakatawa on the bench! If he’d started him, he would have been pushing for the round high.
Expecto-Pa-TRY-trum vs. Ofa Tu’ungaFAST & The Furious
Result: 448 - 590 Blake (Ofa Tu’ungaFAST) is officially the king of the hill. Capitalizing on Nabung’s loss, Blake solidified himself in 1st place with a dominant win. Quinn Tupaea (85) and Kyren Taumoefolau (82) were electric. Andrew (Expecto) had a solid outing from Ryan Lonergan (61) but was let down by a complete lack of other players contributing heavily.

The OG League Table After Round 9:
Blake (Ofa Tu’ungaFAST) finally has some clear air with over a BP win from 2nd spot! Nabung slips back to the pack after his second straight loss. Sean and Nelson are neck-and-neck for 3rd, while Cargie continues his meteoric rise, now sitting comfortably in 5th and threatening the top four. Wylie remains at the bottom, but his 500+ score suggests he’s not dead yet.
Is it time for Nabung to panic-trade, or can the Roigardians find their Galaxy-conquering form again in Round 10?
