URC Team of the Week - Rd 12
The best Draft Rugby Fantasy Scorers for round 12
Intro
The Six Nations fallow week provided a chaotic restart to the URC, and if your league-mates weren't watching the Trade Window, they likely got sniped. While Test stars like Bundee Aki and Robbie Henshaw were returning to provincial duty, the Casualty Ward claimed another high-draft-capital victim in Harry Byrne (concussion). This round proved once again that while wingers get the headlines, it’s the high-work-rate "donkeys" in the trenches who anchor a winning head-to-head matchup.
Team of the Week
1: Sam Illo – Prop, Connacht Rugby (63 pts) The fit-again tighthead delivered a masterclass in forward grit. 14 tackles and a crucial tackle-try-saver provided a massive floor. In Draft Rugby, a prop making 14 tackles is pure fantasy gold before they even hit a scrum.
2: Tom Stewart – Hooker, Ulster Rugby (94 pts) Released from Ireland camp to do damage, Stewart didn’t disappoint. Along with a try, he recorded 20 tackles and 18 ruck arrivals. This is the “Tight Five Edge” personified; he outworked most back-rowers in the league this week.3: Gareth Thomas – Prop, Ospreys (58 pts) A massive engine performance. Thomas hit a staggering 39 rucks and made 11 carries. Under our scoring, those 11 carries bank 22 points on volume alone, proving why Tier-1 props are a must-have.
4: Matteo Canali – Lock, Zebre Parma (59 pts) Volume, volume, volume. 18 tackles and 13 carries for the Zebre man. If he’s sitting in your free agent pool, pick him up as a high-floor streaming option during the international windows.
5: Seb Davies – Lock, Dragons RFC (53 pts) Davies was everywhere for the Dragons, hitting 27 rucks and securing 4 lineout takes. 11 carries for a lock ensures that even in a low-scoring game, his floor remains safe for your weekly matchup.
6: James Ratti – Back Row, Ospreys (88 pts) Ratti was a dominant force, leading the round with 9 lineout takes and adding 18 carries to his try. His ability to link play (15 passes) makes him a statistical anomely in the back row.7: Magnus Bradbury – Back Row, Edinburgh Rugby (74 pts) A bruising display with 10 dominant carries and 7 tackle busts. Bradbury is currently one of the most effective strike-runners in the competition, rewarding managers with huge post-contact yardage.
8: Sean Jansen – Back Row, Connacht Rugby (64 pts) The “Galway Gut-Punch” hero. Jansen secured the win with an overtime try and led the defensive effort with 22 tackles. He continues to outplay the biggest names in the league.
9: Embrose Papier – Scrumhalf, Bulls (50 pts) Papier’s clinical brace of tries and 4 tackle busts kept the Bulls’ attack firing. He remains one of the premier offensive threats at the base of the ruck.
10: Jack Walsh – Flyhalf, Ospreys (81 pts) The Australian-born pivot showed off his dual-threat nature with 12 tackles, 13 carries, and 3 line-break assists. Flyhalves who tackle like flankers are a total cheat code in head-to-head leagues.
11: Onisi Ratave – Outside Back, Benetton Rugby (101 pts) A certified “Hot Shit” prospect performance. 170 carry metres, 8 tackle busts, and 2 tries—Ratave is a volume machine who can break a matchup wide open in a single half.
12: Harold Vorster – Centre, Bulls (106 pts) Vorster did it all: 2 tries, 2 assists, 11 tackles, and 3 turnovers won. Midfielders who contribute in all four scoring categories are an unrivaled assets.13: Joe Roberts – Centre, Scarlets (75 pts) Roberts was a handful for the Edinburgh defence, bagging 2 tries and 5 tackle busts. His physical directness is generating consistent double-digit scores.
14: Kyle Rowe – Outside Back, Glasgow Warriors (85 pts) Rowe made his return from Scotland duty count with a brace of tries and 15 carries. His high involvement rate ensures he isn’t just a “try or bust” winger.
15: Matt Gallagher – Outside Back, Benetton Rugby (78 pts) Gallagher remains the heartbeat of the Benetton counter-attack. 13 gain-line crosses and 372 kick metres show he is constantly in the game, providing a reliable high ceiling at fullback.Available in your league? (Hidden Gems)
Sam Illo (Connacht - Prop): Recovered from a hamstring injury and immediately hit elite tackle numbers. If your front row is looking thin, Illo is a priority add for the run-in.
Matteo Canali (Zebre - Lock): High tackle volume and consistent carries make him a perfect “Streaming” candidate for managers needing cover in the engine room.
Jack Walsh (Ospreys - Flyhalf): With many Tier-1 pivots away on Test duty, Walsh’s high involvement (12 tackles, 3 assists) makes him a gold-standard free agent pickup.
